I was impressed by how clean out city streets were most of the holiday season but this litter is on Transnet / Metrorail property and is therefore their responsibility to clean it up and clearly this is not high on their priority list. Still I do wish that people would not just dump their litter the way they do – it’s generally not difficult to find a rubbish bin.
I’m seeing so many people these days throwing things out their windows – and i’m not talking stompies. Cans and tissues plastic bags…
Have to wonder – never heard of a rubbish bin? Or a rubbish bag in your car?
I’m not sure who started it or how, though I suspect it may have been first launched in California. But then it seems to have spread throughout the country. Groups or organizations or businesses “adopt” certain sections of roadways or highways and periodically do a litter patrol action. They even get a sign along the roadside announcing who is responsible for keeping the roadway clean. It seems to work pretty well around here. Then it doesn’t hurt that we have a deposit on cans and bottles, which can be redeemed when they’re turned in. Idiots still toss them out the window, but those down on their luck go along and pick them up for the pittance they can earn when turning them in.
Those litter collectors we call vultures here as they go through the garbage bins on collection days and make their pennies. We place all recyclebes in separate bags for them. But the trashers are always there.

So depressing. . . .
Not nice
It saddens me when I see litter like this. Shows people do not have pride in keeping their land tidy

Disgusting litterbugs!
Yet again, simply an example of not enough education, self-discipline and enforcement.
