The Port Jackson imported more than a century ago from Australia has been declared an alien invasive plant and is currently under attack to have it removed wherever it grows. Amongst others a fungi that kills it has been imported from Australia and seems to work effectively albeit time consuming. The photos below were taken in the Blaauwberg conservation park on the terrain of the battle of Blaauwberg 1806.

A patch of Port Jacksons hacked down by the Happy Hackers, a group of pensioners who volunteered for the service.

Killed by the fungi.

Still many more to go as can be seen behind the grazing horses.

Enjoy the day.
