After Saturday’s destructive fire in Houtbay Sunday saw another fire on the opposite side of the suburb on Karbonkelberg. Again there was a call for non-residents of Houtbay to stay away in order to keep the streets open for emergency vehicles. Unfortunately the fire fighters, including the helicopters used for water bombing the fire, had to contend with a strong Southeaster that at times surged to over 100 km/h (62 miles per hour). The photos below were taken on Monday in the final stages of containing the fire.

Light rain drizzling this morning which should help to cool off the mountain and extinguish the fire 100% and of course this drizzle is more than welcome as a small break in the severe drought we are suffering.

Enjoy the day.
